Re: A hard-up university was under fire yesterday for employing a Professor of Storytelling at more than £1,000-a-week.
Conservative MP David Davies said the job showed university chiefs are living in "cloud cuckoo land".
The £63k-a-year position at the University of South Wales in Cardiff is described as an "academic role".
But Mr Davies called on the university to scrap the post and leave storytelling to Britain's world-renowned authors like Dickens and J K Rowling.
He said: "The University of South Wales is forever bleating about the fact they've got no money.
"How can they afford to fund a £60k plus job to sit around reading Janet and John books?
"Storytelling is for primary school children - not for university students."
The advertisement states: "We welcome applications from individuals with international standing and expertise in any area of storytelling."
