Re: The trial of a mine manager over the deaths of four miners at a Swansea Valley pit has started.
Malcolm Fyfield, 58, was manager of the Gleision drift mine near Cilybebyll when it flooded in September 2011.
David Powell, 50, Charles Breslin, 62, Phillip Hill, 44, and Garry Jenkins, 39, died in the incident.
The prosecution opened its case at Swansea Crown Court on Thursday.
The defence told the trial that it was agreed that Mr Fyfield suffered from post traumatic stress disorder and that would affect how he was able to deal with evidence. He will require breaks and may need to leave the court on occasions.
