Re: Bungling council gardeners have cut down a rare orchid that had been blossoming in Conwy for the last four years.<br />
Retired geologist Jeff Walters had been photographing the heath spotted orchid for years and was “devastated” when it disappeared this week.<br />
Conwy Council have defended themselves, saying there was “no evidence” of the plant in the flower bed at the council’s headquarters in Bodlondeb.<br />
But Mr Walters, who lives in Conwy, said he found the discarded leaves of the orchid in a heap of weeds nearby.
